Supreme Court Petitioned Again to Postpone NEET MDS 2024 Exam Amidst Internship Extension The NBE has affirmed its decision not to postpone the NEET MDS exam 2024, stating that it will be conducted as per the pre-notified schedule on March 18, 2024. After the National Board of Examinations (NBE) extended the internship cut-off date for NEET MDS 2024, aspirants have once again turned to the Supreme Court, urging the Union government to postpone the exam to July.
The move comes after the Union Government failed to make a decision regarding the postponement despite the court's earlier directives. In a recent development, aspirants of the NEET MDS examination filed a Miscellaneous Application in the Supreme Court, seeking the restoration of the writ petition. This action was prompted by the government's inaction on postponing the exam, despite assurances given to the bench Previously, in February, the Supreme Court had directed the Centre to decide expeditiously on the representation regarding the NEET MDS 2024 exam.
However, even after the court's directive, the Centre remained indecisive for nearly two weeks. The NBE's decision to extend the internship completion cut-off date to June 30 has added fuel to the aspirants' plea for postponement.
The move was prompted by representations from students whose internship deadlines extended beyond the previous cut-off date of March 31. Consequently, the NEET MDS registration window will be reopened from April 1 to June 30 for candidates completing their internships during this period.
Additionally, the NEET MDS admit card release date has been postponed to March 15, just three days prior to the exam. Despite these developments, the NBE has affirmed its decision not to postpone the NEET MDS exam 2024, stating that it will be conducted as per the pre-notified schedule on March 18, 2024. The Supreme Court, comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, is yet to fix a date for the hearing on the matter, indicating ongoing tensions between the aspirants and the authorities regarding the scheduling of the NEET MDS exam.
